Founded in 1981 in Charlotte, N.C. and purchased by its current owner in 1993, Applied is a leader in the manufacturing and distribution of truss and electronic products for the entertainment, school, house of worship, retail and trade show industries.
The Applied offices, electronics division and metal manufacturing shop are all headquartered in a 60,000 square foot warehouse in Newport News, Virginia. Truss products manufactured by Applied are fabricated by certified welders. All Applied equipment is proudly made in the U.S.A.
Mike spent several years after college in the world of accounting. His love of live music soon brought him into the concert industry where he spent over 15 years producing national act concerts. The experience of accounting, and knowledge of the music and theatre industries were a perfect fit when the position of Chief Operations Officer opened at Applied many years ago. Max has worked in the entertainment industry more than 20 years, most recently as the Sales Manager for Applied. Prior to Applied, Max worked for Tomcat USA as well as the automation department for Cirque Du Solei’s “KA”. Max has also served as the Assistant Head of Automation for “Siegfried and Roy at The Mirage”. While working for Applied, Max has served our customers from coast to coast to ensure their needs are met with high quality, reliable products and un-matched customer service. Southeast Sales Manager
Darrell spent over 10 years as a professional musician prior to moving into an operations management position with a defense contractor, gaining valuable experience in precision manufacturing. Eventually moving onto Applied, where he has been a valuable asset for over 17 years and counting. Before joining the Applied sales team, Darrell worked as a designer on our dimming control and power distribution products. Jack has more than 25 years as a seasoned veteran of the production industry. He has worked as a Key Manager and Associate Producer at Mills James Productions in Columbus, Ohio and the Technical Producer and Site Manager for Jamestown 400th Anniversary which included the visit of Queen Elizabeth II and President George W. Bush. Jack has dedicated the past ten years meeting client’s needs for diverse applications at Applied. Jack holds a bachelors degree in Business. This along with his dedication to listening to customer needs, in an effort to find solutions, makes him an invaluable asset to the company as well as our clients. Latin America Sales Manager
Roberto has been working in the Entertainment Support Industry since 2005. Prior to joining the “Elite Sales Team” at Applied, Roberto served in the U.S. Army Aviation Branch for more than 22 years before retirement. He has a strong background specializing in both Quality Assurance and Production Control Management, as well as LAN System Administration. While at Canon U.S.A. Chris has worked in the entertainment industry more than 35 years, most recently as a Sales Manager for Applied. Prior to Applied, Chris worked for the City of Norfolk Seven Venues as their Production Manager. Prior to that he was the Production Manager and House Manager for the Boathouse in Norfolk, VA and a Promoter Rep for Cellardoor Concerts. Chris has also toured with various local, regional and national acts throughout his career. Gordon has worked at Applied for nineteen years. He has a BS in Business Management, and an AS in Engineering. With more than forty years of experience in manufacturing, Gordon brings unprecedented knowledge and experience to Applied. Jed has been in manufacturing for over 35 years. Prior to his joining the Applied team, he was involved in the custom precision sheet metal fabrication industry. He was responsible for every facet of the business from part design to cnc programming to part finishing. Electronics Division Manager
Jon has more than 18 years in the production industry. He spent 6 years working as a stagehand, carpenter, electrician and production lead at Penn State's Eisenhower Auditorium and Upstage Right Productions in Cherry Hill, NJ. Jon then decided to spend the next 15 years, and counting, with Applied. Jon has not only reduced lead times and expanded our custom manufacturing capabilities in our electronics and chain motor divisions, he has also improved product design and quality. Jon earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University, is a member of ESTA Rigging Working Group, and is a certified CM chain motor technician. Dan has been with Applied, as the electronics service department tech since September of 2000. Prior to working at Applied, Dan spent 20 years in the United States Air Force and is a Gulf War veteran. At the USAF, he spent 4 years as an aircraft electrician and 16 years as an avionic tech before retiring to the Newport News area in June of 2000. Truss Shop Manager
Tracy joined the Applied team in January of 2010. Prior to coming to Applied, Tracy worked extensively in the residential and commercial construction business and spent some of that time as a fitter and welder. He brings this experience to his duties as the Applied shop manager. Tracy is responsible for keeping all of our truss manufacturing shop employees running in sync and like a well-oiled machine. Whether they are building custom projects or building up our stock inventory, Tracy keeps our truss shop on task and focused.
Accounting & Administration
Eileen is here for all Applied accounting needs. Eileen does everything from accounts payable and receivable to payroll and human resources. A real jack of all trades and master…well, you know the rest of the saying. A Montana native, USAF veteran and military spouse, Eileen came to Applied after receiving her degree in accounting at Old Dominion University in 2008. Carrie has worked for Applied since 1999 after moving from Buffalo, New York to Virginia to escape the snow. Starting out in reception and shipping and moving to sales, customer service, advertising and purchasing, her experience within the company helps her play a key role in the framework of the Applied team. Carrie takes pleasure in assisting customers and the sales team so order transactions can be processed efficiently. Reception and Shipping Administrator
Pam is solely responsible for making product at Applied move from Point A to Point B in a timely fashion, beyond the logistic scope you will find her filling up her day with customer service and administrative functions. Being a NY native the flare for entertainment is in her persona and she enjoys theatrics and being an important role within the industry. Her two nieces have been involved in show business and have had roles on Lifetime and in featured films. Pam is a mother of two girls who are pursuing their careers as nurses.
